Little glycemic index! Size matters

Well, in the previous chapter we discovered the secret of fat deposition (tssss, do not tell anyone) and realized that the most important thing is not to provoke the release of large amounts of insulin. Inasmuch as if there is much insulin, then, beyond any doubt it will take all the consumed carbohydrates and turn them into fats. Therefore, the main question is: how not to provoke the insulin release? Completely forgo carbohydrates? Wrong answer.

Secret number two: all the carbohydrates have a glycemic index. Their glycemic index shows by how much the eaten carbohydrate raises blood sugar levels. The higher the glycemic index of the product, the higher the sugar level it raises. The higher sugar rises, the more insulin is produced. Thereunto, our task is to eat only foods with a low and average glycemic index.

Here are examples of carbohydrates with indicating their glycemic index:

Carbohydrates with a low glycemic index (our best friends)
Carbohydrates with a low glycemic index (our best friends)
0-35
Carbohydrates with an average glycemic index (friends as well)
35-50
Carbohydrates with high glycemic index (sorry, baby, but you have to forget about us for a while☺)
50-100
Raspberries, 25 Buckwheat, 40 Mashed potatoes, 80!!!
Bulgarian pepper, 15 Boiled, steamed carrots40 White rice, 70!!!
Yellow lentils, 30 Brown rice, 50 Noodles, 70!!!
Red beans, 35 Sushi, 50 Sugar, 70!!!
Chickpeas (Turkish peas), 30 Persimmon, 50 Pizza, 55 !!!
Apple, 35 Prunes, 40 Beer, 70 !!!

Please do not be anticipatorily upset by the fact that you’ll never be able to eat delicious pasta, pizza or pilaf. As a matter of fact, all the products in the red category have healthier alternatives. For example, instead of noodles with high glycemic index, you can eat wholegrain Italian pasta with an average glycemic index. By the same token, instead of sugar with high glycemic index, you can eat a variety of sweeteners (honey, agave syrup, stevia). You can eat brown rice, instead of white one. The brown rice has an average glycemic index, so it is not harmful. The only product that cannot be replaced in this nutrition system is the potato. Suchwise, you’ll have to stop eating it and shed tears in the pillow at least at the stage of weight loss. At the stage of weight maintenance, you can sometimes afford boiled or baked potato, as it has lower glycemic index rather than its older fried brother.
